- Shorten implementation time.
- Reduce risks.
- Offer faster rollouts.
Our Resource Kit guides you through tried and tested approaches and will allow you to leverage our innovation and gain access to many custom applications we have created for Afaria.
Once you buy the resource kit, you will have access to new tools that will get added to the Resource Kit.
The ATC Resource Kit for Afaria, Standard Edition 2.0 contains the following components:
- Afaria AutoConnect for Windows or Java - Initiate an Afaria connection from another program, such as a batch file, and bypass the standard Afaria Interface. This is useful in environments where you do not want the end user to have to interact with Afaria.
- Append to Downloads - Properly append to files to avoid file contention. Examples of this include sales history files that may be appended daily with updated sales history for accounts that a specific Afaria user manages. Another example is a field inspector that gets updated route information throughout the day, the route information may be appended from the Home Office to a single file.
- Channel Editor - Edit channels without un-publishing them. Channels that are published within Afaria cannot be edited directly. All worklists within Afaria can be assigned to the Editor channel, and can then be edited while in Production. Changes do not take affect until the worklist is saved.
- Client Connection Speed - Gather connection speeds and populate into a Crystal Report.
- Client Registration - Enforce registration of new clients. This process will let you identify any users that either intentionally or inadvertently connected to your server. These users can be registered or, if required, identified for deletion.
- Custom Client Names - Ensure all clients have a unique client name. Many computers come with a manufacturer’s default computer name that is not changed before the computer is connected to the network. This presents a problem when trying to track down a particular client in the log files, and discovering that there are 50 clients using the same client name.
- Controlling ESD - Distribute ESD using quotas to limit the amount of bandwidth or time used.
- Download Speed - Control which files are downloaded based on the users’ connection speed. Examples of this would be if you have mobile field users that sometimes use dial-up accounts, such as from a hotel, and require vital daily updates but want to wait until their users connect over broadband to download larger files.
- Download Hours - Control which files are downloaded based on the time of day or day of the week. Examples of this would be if you have mobile field users that visit customer sites and may have a need to quickly run an Afaria Session to get vital updates without downloading other, large updates at the same time.
- Ensuring Unique File Names - Collect large sets of files with the same filename and give them a unique name.
- Afaria Graceful Shutdown - Shut down an Afaria Cluster or standalone environment. Without this procedure, any users in the middle of a Session when stopping the Afaria Server will be disconnected at whatever point they are in the Session. Using this procedure, you allow those users to complete their Sessions uninterrupted.
- Afaria Farm Graceful Shutdown - Shut down a single server within an Afaria cluster or standalone environment, while ensuring no users are in the middle of a session.
- Scheduling Server Processes - Use Afaria to run server processes. There are many uses for this procedure; one of the most common is the moving of data that has been collected from clients to another server for storage or additional processing.
- Using VB Scripts and Return Codes - Use VB Scripts and Return Codes in Afaria.
This Resource Kit is a set of channels, applications, sample source code and documentation to describe their use. It also gives detailed descriptions of other advanced techniques. All Resource Kit channels are contained in Afaria’s cmx format for easy integration with your environment.
